The Lancaster Area Recreational Soccer (LARS) league is the recreational division of the Lancaster County Soccer League (LANCO). LARS does not fields any soccer teams, LARS is comprised of approx. 19 Lancaster County youth soccer clubs that field teams in the age divisions listed below.

The clubs that comprise LARS were formally governed by two separate leagues; the Lancaster County Boys Youth Soccer Association (LBYSA) and Lancaster Area Girls Soccer. The two leagues merged on 11/17/2016 and are now both under one rec roof. On 3/6/2017 the new league became the rec division of LANCO. LANCO is the governing body for Lancaster County travel teams.

The Difference Between Recreational (rec) Soccer and Travel Soccer.

Rec Soccer

is basically 'for the fun of it'. To join a rec team all you need to do it sign up because there are no tryouts. Skill levels on rec teams can vary from advanced to very little or no experience at all. Many rec teams are a mishmash of skill levels even in the older age divisions. Rec soccer is a great way to learn the sport of soccer and to develop skills starting at any age. For info on joining a rec team contact the soccer club in your area or contact the rec commissioner.

Travel Soccer

is more comparable to a school team where competition is the key factor. Travel players are normally more skilled and usually have to try out to joint the team. Some youth soccer clubs also have travel teams so if you would like info on joining a travel team check with the youth soccer club in your area or contact LANCO.
